HP not leaving the computer business after all.
18th November 2011
In August this year HP made the shock announcement that it would be leaving the Personal Computer hardware business whilst maintaining the server hardware side. HP stated they were going to concentrate on it service offerings instead.
Well in a u turn that the government would be proud of, HP has now announced that it has completed its evaluation of alternatives for its Personal Systems Group (PSG) - the part of the company that makes PC’s - and has decided the unit will remain part of the company after all.
In a statement HP: “HP objectively evaluated the strategic, financial and operational impact of spinning off PSG. It’s clear after our analysis that keeping PSG within HP is right for customers and partners, right for shareholders, and right for employees,” said Meg Whitman, the new HP president and chief executive officer. “HP is committed to PSG, and together we are stronger.”
This can only be a good thing, Bowker IT tries to specify HP when supplying new equipment if possible due to its high build quality and value. Our customers have grown to trust this brand as much as we do, and in turn we have a great relationship with the IT giant. And long may it continue!
